OUR APPROACH
PHASE 1: DISCOVER
Assess Operational Processes and Systems
The Discover Phase is a brief consulting engagement that assesses relevant
client operational processes and systems depending on the specific area of focus
or need. It is designed to quickly evaluate these systems and processes and
identify opportunities for improvement. Some assessments are free and may only
take a few hours while others are completed for a fee and may take up to 1 to 2
weeks and involve multiple ACS professional engineers and consultants.

On all assessments we work collaboratively with your management, technical
and operational staff and employ proven and battle tested process improvement
approaches. Our methodologies are grounded in Lean, Six Sigma, and other
successful processes to create high impact recommendations and re-engineering opportunities.
Selected custom assessments we provide:
- Water/Wastewater Plant Energy, Environmental, Maintenance and Operability (EEMO) Assessment
- Manufacturing Plant Control, Utilities and Process (CUP) Assessment
- SCADA (Control) System Assessment
- Process Automation Assessment
- Maintenance System and Asset Criticality Assessment
- Vulnerability/Security Assessment
- Business Process Assessment
- IT Infrastructure Assessment
Example results from prior Discover Phase work:
- EEMO Assessment revealed to municipal client that their water system operational practices resulted in excessive energy consumption and other operational costs
- SCADA System Assessment identified a critical security issue with a SCADA system that exposed our client to significant risk
- Management System Assessment revealed an automation opportunity that could reduce staff labor time by 20% and provide real time access to important information that was currently only available once per month
